Victoria University students use 3d printing and scanning to study Greek artifacts

Students at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand are able to get up close and personal with a number of ancient Greek artifacts thanks to 3D printing and scanning. The artifacts, which belong to the university’s museum, were scanned by the School of Design and then printed to allow students in the School of Art History and Classics and Religious Studies to handle them.

The professor in charge of the project was Dr. Diana Burton. She eventually hopes to create an online 3D gallery of the artifacts to allow other researchers to collaborate.
